A Brief History of Gum

Early in time, the ancient Greeks used to chew matiche, a resin from the Mastic tree. Native Americans also chewed sap from sap trees, and passed this trick on to the pilgrims. In 1848, the first commercially produced chewing gum was sold. It was called State of Maine Pure Spruce Gum. In December of 1869, the first official patent of chewing gum was made. More for next time!
